Terms of Use

1. Service and operator
Matterlegal is an India-first pilot workspace for preparing and managing permissioned legal matter records. Its operator is lawyer.diy, at Landmark Building, Sector 67, Gurgaon 122102. Contact: support@lawyer.diy.
2. Who may use it
Direct users must be adults with capacity and authority to act for themselves or their organization. Use your own account and accurately describe your role. Only contribute information and materials you are entitled to provide, including any necessary consent or other lawful authority for information about other people.
3. Your workspace and permissions
Creating an organization makes you administrator of that organization, not a platform operator or verified lawyer. Organization membership, case participation, source access and representation are separate permissions. A client and eligible professional must record the required engagement and review decisions. A professional profile submission is not a license check or an active engagement. Directory approval does not guarantee suitability, availability or outcome.
Do not share credentials, impersonate others, bypass permissions, upload malicious files, harass participants, falsify sources or use integrations outside their authorized scope. Partners and developers must secure their credentials and honor the individual's recorded permissions. Access can be restricted or revoked to protect users, address abuse or comply with law, subject to mandatory rights.
4. Legal and AI responsibilities
The platform itself does not appoint counsel, provide a law-firm engagement, guarantee privilege, certify legal currency or promise a successful case. AI passages, questions and drafting scaffolds are unverified preparation aids. OCR and imported sources can contain errors. The responsible lawyer and client must independently check facts, authorities, later treatment, jurisdiction, deadlines and the exact work to be authorized.
Do not treat a generated result or manually entered receipt as proof that filing, service, signature, payment or another external act occurred. The current platform does not automatically execute court filing or representation. Independent professionals and external providers remain responsible for their own services and applicable duties.
5. Content and confidentiality
You and other rightsholders retain their rights in contributed materials. You authorize the processing needed to store, retrieve and share those materials within the service's permissions, including authorized OCR and selected-text AI processing described in the Privacy Policy. Do not upload sources or third-party information without appropriate rights or authority.
Choose participants and disclosures carefully. Do not assume every document placed in a group, partner application or law-office workspace has the same confidentiality or privilege status. Keep independent copies of critical materials and separately track urgent legal deadlines.
6. Test billing
Stripe billing remains in TEST mode. Test statements, sandbox payment success and recorded settlement amounts are not evidence of real money collected. Do not enter real payment details into a sandbox. Platform test billing is separate from professional fees, settlement collection and trust accounting. Any later live billing requires separately configured services, explicit commercial terms and required approvals.
7. Availability and records
This pilot has documented limits, quotas and dependencies on service providers. Availability, OCR quality, AI relevance and recovery are not guaranteed. Changes, withdrawal, suspension or closure may affect access; they do not automatically erase records, historical versions or backups. The privacy notice describes the current request process and retention limitations.
8. Problems, changes and mandatory rights
Report account or service problems to support@lawyer.diy, privacy problems to privacy@lawyer.diy and security issues to security@lawyer.diy. Material service or terms changes should be clearly notified and dated, with any further agreement or consent required by applicable law. Mandatory consumer, privacy and other statutory rights remain available. The jurisdiction of an underlying legal case is a separate question for counsel; a workspace setting does not decide disputes about this service.
